Ken asks…
Are there any mobile phones that are also walkie-talkies?
Wouldn’t that be cool?

Rhea answers:
Yes. It was only a matter of time. Here’s some info.
Since Verizon’s launch of a Motorola phone which can be used for push-to-talk “walkie-talkie” style conversations (such as Nextel phone’s), there are other signs of that technology catching up. Today, 4 industry leaders including Nokia announced that they will work on a way to implement push-to-talk on GSM networks (source). And Nextel announced that they will now offer a roaming push-to-talk service to U.S. Customers traveling in the northern region of Mexico. (see press release) What was just a technology designed for team workers is on its way to become a growing cell phone trend.
Richard asks…
Is it possible to find out a phone number with a walkie talkie number?
Someone is alerting me with walkie talkie on my boost mobile phone and it’s annoying and I don’t even no how to use this crap so don’t no how they could have gotten the number in the first place

Rhea answers:
Answer 1-A: Messages, with only a 4-digit or 5-digit number, You can Click LOCK on to & THOSE MESSAGE SENDERS, will be permanently prevented from sending additional text messages, to you! They can try to send it, to you, again & again, but they will get no result!
Answer # 1-B: It may be best, that you contact your cellular phone company & request a new phone number & inform Contacts, Family, Siblings, Classmates, Best Friends & all others, that you are about to change your current cellular number, to a new one. Before changing numbers, call or send a text message that you are about to change phone numbers, & then, after the new number arrives, send a text message to as many, as possible, in 1 message & then forward the same note, to other family members, friends, siblings, until everyone is informed! Then, the troublesome message sender’s notes will no longer be coming to you!
After your cellular number change, has occurred, call everyone, with a home land-line phone that you have a new number. Then ask them the first few you call, to inform others, of your new cellular number. & You could inform others, with a text message, with your current number as the “subject”, when they your friends, family, contacts, in any kind, you will be able to contact them & inform them of your new number, with same company.
Answer # 2: A group has sent a few BULK Notes onto my cellular phone & a majority of the times what appears is a 5-digit number, that almost appears to be a ZIP Code! Some notes have appeared with area code prefix & 4-digit suffix & then I can locate the number, if I want to, but I will ignore them.
Answer # 3: If you want to, click on REPLY & you will be able to send back a note to the numbers, 1 at a time & inform the text message senders, a personal note from you, that you do not want them to send messages, to you & your phone.
Answer # 4: Or, pretend to do a reply, as if what the number’s have sent & have a sentence prepared, in your phone’s auto prefix, as an introduction & have a sentence, like “NO WAY!”, or “I am refusing to reply to anymore messages you send, anymore!”, or “BUZZ OFF, YOU_______!” (profanity, & long underscore).
Answer # 5: To sex seekers; type 36x24x36 = 31,104 as a reply.
Or crisscross the numbers of 36x24x36, as 24x36x24 = 20,736,
(as if you are offering to teach math)!
That should have them stop sending text messages, to you!

Lisa asks…
Can I walkie-talkie & dial my home phone to make phone calls instead of using a cell phone?
Can I use a technology similar to 10-4 to dial my home phone and make phone calls from it? Such a technology should exist. I know I would not be able to roam that many miles, but I am never far with my cell phone anyway. The only reason such a technology wouldn’t exist seems to me that phone companies would supress it because it would surely hurt the mobile phone industry!
Maybe you could jimmy-rig a setup by having a walkie-talkie and a voice activated phone right beside the walkie-talkie…

Rhea answers:
To build a system like you want yourself is clearly doable. It could be done with a PC with a programing language compiler, like C, installed touch tone encoders and decoders (like found on some old dial-up modems), an old phone (for its headset), a PC relay input / output card and several weeks of effort. Perhaps a better option is just to buy a long range cordless telephone. You might try the Voyager CL-2200XP AS Long Range Wireless Phone. It is claimed to have a 1 mile range indoors and 6 miles line of sight. It is legal in the USA and priced at about $600.

Donald asks…
what is the boost mobile code for unlimited minutes or walkie talkie?
and please don’t get sacarsctic i’m really interested. and no i’m not cheap cuz i myself have a contarct phone…

Rhea answers:
There’s NO such code. The so-called “code” was PROVEN fake a long time ago. All it does is take you to the menu that TECHS use to get network info and software versions when we service phones. EVERYTHING goes through their towers and servers, so they know when you use it. If there was a way to get free minutes, messaging, and direct connect, Boost Mobile would be out of business. It’s common sense.
Go buy minutes like everyone else that uses prepaid.

With an EyeFi card too?
I am thinking that the commercial could have been Alltel. Verizon bought out alltel. Alltel really have commercials any more, but Alltel used to before Verizon bought the company.
