Ever wondered what the SIP (IP Telephony) feature on your new Nokia E52/E61 mobile phone does ?
Well if your company has one of those Cisco Unified Communications Manager (aka Cisco Call Manager), then you are in luck. What we will do is have your brand spanking new Nokia E52 or any other E Series mobile phone connect to the Cisco PBX and have your own office extension number on your mobile phone. Just have in mind that you will need to have access to the local wireless network of your company, and of course have access to the Cisco Call Manager.
Below is a step by step guide in connecting your E Series Nokia to the Cisco Call Manager (CCM).
For simplicity, I will use the same number as for the userid/password/telephone number…
Create an end user in CCM (example follows)
user id –> 17805
pass –> 17805
last name –> 17805
telephone number –> 17805
digest credentials –> 17805
presence group –> standard presence group
leave mobility or mobile voice access boxes unchecked
Adding the nokia phone:
-add a third party sip device (basic)
-enter the mac address of the phone (enter *#62209526# on your phone to get it)
-choose third-party sip device (basic) phone button template
-standard common phone profile
-owner user id -> 17805
-in protocol specific information:
–device security profile -> choose sip non-secure
–sip profile –> standard sip profile
–digest user –> 17805
…don’t forget to make that device active.
Now, on the Nokia phone itself:
menu->tools->settings->connection->sip settings
profile name -> any name you want
service profile -> IETF
public username -> sip: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (basically ip address of
your call manager)
use compression -> no
use security -> no
registrar server address -> sip:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ccm’s ip address)
realm -> ccmsipline (default on call manager)
user name -> 17805
password -> 17805
transport -> udp (or auto)
port -> 5060
if you use proxy:
same info as above.
This config should work for every nokia wifi enabled device that supports SIP.
