Here below is an very interesting slide put up up by Sprint Nextel CEO Dan Hesse, who took to the stage at the Open Mobile Summit in San Francisco to talk about the latest trends in the arena.
In the “open continuum,” Hesse places his wireless carrier nearer to the middle, while competitors are closer to the closed end.
The most open “anything goes” side is uncharted territory.
Still, in a Q&A with BoomTown after his speech, Hesse noted that among the handset makers, Google was on that wilder end, while Apple sat on the other pole completely.
These are exactly the kinds of key topics Walt Mossberg and I will be discussing with Hesse and others at D: Dive Into Mobile conference, which takes place December 6 and 7 in San Francisco.
Other speakers include Foursquare’s Dennis Crowley, Google’s Andy Rubin, Mike Lazaridis of Research in Motion and more.
You can get more information about the event here.
