The day after Sprint Nextel revealed that it plans to launch a 4G tablet in 2011, T-Mobile USA chimed in to say that it will introduce a 4G tablet next year, as well.
Make that more than one 4G tablet as the written statement that the company released said “tablets”, plural.
The tablets will be part of the company’s “aggressive 4G product lineup”, which will range from smartphones and tablets to emerging devices, according to T-Mobile. The company did not offer any additional information about the upcoming tablets, such as manufacturer names, feature specifications or pricing details.
As it has in recent weeks, T-Mobile means HSPA+ when it says “4G”. Rival carriers have objected to this branding. AT&T recently disputed T-Mobile’s use of the tagline, “America’s Largest 4G Network”. Sprint has also spoken out publicly.
T-Mobile continues to use the term in its marketing and other communications anyway. The company says its HSPA+ technology delivers speeds that meet and even exceed those on other 4G networks (WiMax or early LTE.)
T-Mobile currently offers one tablet, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, which runs on the carrier’s 3G network.
